IMPORTANCE OF NAC :
The acetyl group in NAC makes cysteine more water-soluble, and functions to speed absorption and distribution on orally ingested cysteine. The acetyl group reduces the reactivity of the thiol (-SH), making NAC less toxic and less susceptible to oxidation than cysteine.
